Looking across Reykjavik

This was shot from the top of Hallgrímskirkja church in Reykjavik (of which I will be posting a photo of in the coming days) - looking further west from the harbour.

HDR shot combined from 3 exposures, but I still tried to keep it pretty natural - just with added tonality.

Iceland National Park

So this update has certainly been a long time coming - apologies for that! However, it does mean I have a few photos to post seen as we've just come back from Iceland. Despite only being there for 2.5 days, it was fantastic and i'd love to go back.

This is Þingvellir National Park - an area where you can literally stand on two different tectonic plates. Here the Eurasian and North American plates are separating and it was also the birth place of the Icelandic parliament. As such, the area is now a world heritage site.

This is a HDR contructed from 3 separate exposure images.

Taken just down the road from the house - I had to pop down and get some photos of the beautiful pink cherry blossom tree against the gorgeous (albeit rare) British blue sky :)

A collection of shots from Venice which I edited recently and put together as a little Montage. It'll be nice to go back again some day :)

del·i·ca·cy/ˈdelikəsē/ Noun:	1) The quality of being delicate, in particular.

So continuing my New Years Resolution.. in part.. i've edited this shot I took a few months ago, giving it a more vintage tone that I would normally approach with such a subject. I'm always fascinated by the wings of these Glass Wing Butterflies - they seem so fragile.

New Year, New Start

So - its 2012, and one of my two new years resolutions is to do more photography. I've been very slack over the last few months with house moving, having work done to it etc. etc. and so, this post will mark a new start to the year. I wont be posting something every day, but i'll target for once a week at least ;)

Hope everyone had a lovely christmas and new year :)

Oh yes.. and I should probably say that this is one of the last portraits I did in 2011, again of Evelyn. Its funny to see how much she's grown up in just 6 months, and how much her features have changed.

Scimitar Oryx

Now extinct in the wild, I had to take this shot at Chester Zoo. I re-coloured the grass/foliage to make it look a little more dynamic - that and the fact I struggle to not do anything to an image in Photoshop these days.

Apologies for the lack of updates - moving house has proven to be quite the time suck when it comes to free camera time. Fortunately we got a weekend free this last weekend and popped over to Chester Zoo on Sunday.

Only surviving now in captivity: "The Scimitar Oryx, or Scimitar-Horned Oryx, (Oryx dammah) is a species of oryx which formerly inhabited the whole of North Africa. It has been classified as extinct in the wild by the IUCN."

This little guy was very curious of our big camera lenses pointing at him :)

There are many folders of images on my harddrive that I haven't gotten around to looking at properly - and this is one of them. Shot several months ago at Scarborough Sea Life Centre, and only processed just now.

I guess it means i'll always have something to post, I just need to dig through the archives!

Cusworth Hall #2

A second photo that I took at Cusworth Hall near Doncaster a few weeks ago - when we had some sunshine for a change ;)

The colours that come off the 5D MkII vs. the 5D when it comes to infrared photography are quite different - and I have to say that I am much prefering the deeper blue skies of the 5D MkII than the turquoise coloured ones of the 5D.

I also apologise for the downtime of shutterjunkie this last week.. this was due to Defensio (my spam addon) failing, and causing the site not to load. I've removed Defensio now (as it wouldn't recover), and i'm using another form of spam protection. Sadly more complicated, as if you wish to comment on shutterjunkie - you might have to remember some of your high school homework ;)
